Craft punk: Twisted Science

It’s craft but not as you know it. Take a weekend workshop where you can knuckle down and get crafty, turning raw materials into objects of twisted beauty. Learn new skills or brush up on rusty talents.

Cardboard stool workshop with Henry Pilcher

10.30am – 12.30pm, 1.30pm – 3.30pm.  Beginners welcome (age 14 years and over)

Learn the science behind designing for strength while making a cool stool using cardboard.  Henry will show how to use optimum profile shapes, creating strength from a potentially weak material.  The stool is made from cutting and folding cardboard, creating an origami-like construction that becomes a solid shape.  Henry will discuss the different cardboard structural varieties available and their best application for furniture-making plus different ways of fixing cardboard lamination.  All materials supplied.
